Youngsters imperative to nation-building: Panwar

The 46th inter-zonal youth festival of Kurukshetra University (KU) began at Arya PG College here on Thursday with colourful performances by students of various colleges.

The first day of the youth festival witnessed tremendous participation by youngsters. As many as 1,500 students from various colleges will showcase their performances in 42 genres during the three-day festival.

Minister for Panchayats and Development Krishan Lal Panwar, as the chief guest, inaugurated the festival by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

Special guests included Rishipal, Chairman of the Cultural Council of KU; Vivek Chawla, Director of the Youth and Cultural Department of KU; Ravindra Gupta, former Chairman of the Arya College Managing Committee; and social workers Atul Mittal and Surendra Mittal Jain.

Panipat Deputy Commissioner Virendra Kumar Dahiya was the chief guest at the evening session, while Panipat Mayor Komal Saini was a special guest.

Panwar, while addressing the gathering, said such cultural events provided a platform for the youth, allowing them to hone their talents and fostering their all-round development. He described the event as a festival of energy, and emphasised the crucial role of youth in nation-building.

He said youngsters would play a significant role in achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a developed nation by 2047. In the evening session, the DC said if young people utilised their age and time wisely, they could achieve wealth, status, and fame. College Principal Jagdish Gupta said it was a matter of great pride for the college community that Arya PG College had been entrusted with the responsibility of organising the festival, and the college would fulfil it with great enthusiasm.

Surendra Shingla, head of the Arya College Managing Committee, said the committee was striving for the all-round development of students. He said students should enthusiastically participate in cultural activities and sports along with academics.
