A murder case has been registered against 10 individuals after a man succumbed to injuries following an alleged mob attack in Mitrol village of Palwal district. The attack occurred on Friday night over suspicions of cattle smuggling, leaving one dead and another injured. No arrests have been made so far.

The victims were identified as Yusuf (28) of Mundkati village and Ravi (26). According to the police complaint, Yusuf, who was engaged in the sale and purchase of cattle, and Ravi were transporting a cow and a calf in a tempo from Nagla village when they were stopped near Mitrol village by a group of individuals. The mob demanded documentation for the cattle and when Yusuf failed to provide it, the group began assaulting both men, accusing them of smuggling cattle for slaughter. Yusuf was severely injured and later succumbed to his injuries at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi on Sunday. Ravi, who was driving the tempo, sustained injuries but is reported to be stable.

Following Yusuf’s death, his family brought his body back to the village and staged a protest, blocking traffic and demanding immediate action against the culprits. The police persuaded them to cremate the body after assuring them of strict action.

“It is claimed that both victims had no enmity with anyone and were beaten purely on suspicion of smuggling cattle by individuals who identified themselves as cow vigilantes,” sources said.

A police spokesperson said, “We have registered a case and launched a manhunt to apprehend the accused.” The investigation is ongoing and authorities are working to bring the culprits to justice.
