Youth gets 20 years jail for raping minor
The fast-track special court (exclusive under POCSO Act) of Additional District and Sessions Judge Narender on Thursday awarded 20 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for raping a 17-year-old minor girl. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 71,000 on the convict.
The court has also directed to give Rs 60,000 to the victim from the total fine amount.
Vijender Singh, Special Public Prosecutor said the incident was reported to the Sadar police on December 13, 2022.
The mother of a victim in her complaint to the City police on December 13, 2022 said that her 17 year-old daughter was missing from the house since morning. They searched her mobile phone and found a message from Sagar, a youth who lived in the same vicinity.
The complainant alleged that Sagar had abducted her minor daughter. Following the complaint, the city police registered a case and began a probe in the matter.
The police found the girl and arrested Sagar.
Following medical reports and statements of the victim, the police also added sections of rape in the case.
