The court of the Additional District and Sessions Judge has sentenced a youth to 20 years of imprisonment in a POCSO (protection of children from sexual offences) case.
The court held Anuj (23), alias Bunty, a resident of Karnal, guilty and also slapped a fine of Rs 2 lakh on him.
As per the Kurukshetra Police spokesperson, on February 8, 2021 a woman in her complaint at Sadar Pehowa police station stated that her 15-year-old daughter had left their home with an unidentified person. On the basis of the complaint, a case was registered, and during the investigation on February 13, the girl was recovered from Karnal bus stand and the medical test was conducted. The accused was also arrested and sent to jail.
On November 6, the court of the Additional District and Sessions Judge (Fast Track Special Court to Try the Offences of Rape and under POCSO Act), Kurukshetra, sentenced Anuj under Sections 363 and 366-A of the IPC, and Section 4 (2) of the POCSO Act. The sentences will run concurrently.
