Youth held for minor's rape in Palwal

The police have arrested a youth in connection with an incident of a rape and threatening a minor girl in a village of Palwal district. A case under POCSO Act and other sections of the BNS has been registered against the accused.

The police said the accused allegedly sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl and threatened her of dire consequences if she disclosed the incident to anyone. The incident took place on November 21, when the girl, the daughter of a widow, had gone to fetch water from a tank near the village. She was reportedly alone at the spot when the accused came from behind and took her to a secluded place by covering her mouth with a cloth and committed the crime. A complaint was lodged after the victim told her mother about the incident. The police nabbed the accused from Old Sohna road in the district on Thursday. The accused was remanded to judicial custody after initial interrogation today, said the police official.
