Youth shoots himself at MDU-Rohtak, critical

An unidentified youth reportedly shot himself from a sports gun on the campus of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) here on Tuesday.

He was admitted to the Trauma Center in the PGIMS, Rohtak, where his condition is stated to be critical. The police have initiated an investigation.

Prof Rajesh Punia, Proctor, MDU, confirmed the incident stating that it happened near the Department of History on the university campus. “Officials at the History department immediately informed the police which along with forensic experts inspected the spot,” he added.

A police official said the sports gun had been recovered from the spot while efforts were under way to identify the youth.
