Youth should vow to build India of Sardar Patel’s dream: Minister

Administers the oath of national unity to all people present at the programme and flags off the district-level ‘Run for Unity’

Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana said the young generation would have to take a pledge to serve the country selflessly to build the India of the dreams of Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

He said the future generation of the country would have to adopt the ideals of Sardar Patel in their lives to fulfil this pledge. Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana was speaking as a chief guest at the ‘Run for Unity’ programme organised in Yamunanagar today to celebrate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The minister also administered the oath of national unity to all people present in the programme and flagged off the district-level ‘Run for Unity’.

Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal and Jagadhri SDM Vishwanath honoured chief guest Shyam Singh Rana and special guest former Cabinet Minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar by giving them mementos. Speaking to reporters, Minister Rana said programmes were being organised across the country and in Haryana to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.

“Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s name is engraved in golden letters in the history of independent India and his birth anniversary is also celebrated nationwide as ‘National Unity Day’,” said Rana. He added that after independence, Sardar Patel was made India’s first Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister.

“The great freedom fighter played a crucial role in uniting over 550 princely states in independent India. Because of this, he is considered a symbol of Indian unity,” said Rana.

Former Cabinet Minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar said, “The event teaches us important lessons about India’s unity and integrity. It also teaches us the importance of our country’s diversity and unity.”
