Youths go on rampage in Rohtak, injure 5, vandalise homes & vehicles
A group of youths armed with sticks and batons allegedly attacked residents and vandalised their homes and vehicles in the Garhi Mohalla area of Rohtak city on Friday evening.
As per a complaint lodged with the police, five residents were injured and their property, including a car and a scooter, were damaged in the incident. Local residents said a police team had reached the site on getting the information, but seemed helpless in front of the rowdy youths and failed to control the situation.
The complainant, Kundan Lal, a shopkeeper, said the attack was carried out at the behest of Amit Bidlan, whose wife had contested the election for the post of councillor from Ward No. 3, but lost.
Lal, who was injured in the assault and is admitted to the local PGIMS, stated in the complaint that he was sitting in front of his house on Friday evening when the accused attacked him with sticks and vandalised his shop and home with bricks.
"They also assaulted Anil Ratwaya and his wife Raj Rani and vandalized their home. They also attacked the house of Ghanshyam Tanwar and damaged his car. The house of Bhupender Solanki was also vandalised. They also assaulted Rahul and damaged his scooter. Before leaving, they also threatened us with dire consequences," he alleged.
The police have registered a case against Ajay, alias Kaali, Bauna, Poting, Amit, Chirag, Ankit, alias DC, and 10-15 other unknown persons under Sections 110, 115, 190, 191(3), 324(4) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
