Chandigarh, March 23
Former minister and senior SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia today urged Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to take up with his Maharashtra counterpart the issue of Sikh pilgrims stranded at Hazur Sahib in Nanded.
In a statement here, Majithia said the pilgrims, who were mostly from the Majha region, were unable to return to Punjab due to cancellation of trains. He said speedy arrangements should be made to bring them back, including airlifting them or arranging special buses to transport them back to the state.
“This is an urgent matter as the pilgrims as well as their relatives back home are anxious about their safety,” he said adding he had also requested Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal to take up this issue with the Union Government to ensure there were no bottlenecks in swift repatriation of the pilgrims.
