A man was killed when the car he was travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge at Nikhanju in Churah subdivision in Chamba district. The deceased has been identified as Khem Raj, a resident of Bondedi village. The incident occurred around 10.45 pm when he lost control on the vehicle causing it to veer off the road.
According to eyewitnesses, Khem Raj was driving alone when he lost control of the vehicle, which rolled down the steep slope.
The loud crash alerted nearby villagers, who immediately rushed to the spot and informed the police. A rescue operation was launched with the help of local residents. However, by the time Khem Raj was pulled out of the wreckage, he had succumbed to his injuries.
The body has been sent to Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College, Chamba, for postmortem examination. The police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the accident.
