Two water pumping motors worth Rs 35,000 belonging to Umesh Kumar of Chauhada village were stolen from a locked room on his agricultural land in Koon village, Kandaghat. The theft came to light when Umesh visited the site yesterday evening and found the lock broken and motors missing. A case was registered at Kandaghat police station under Sections 331(3) and 305 of the BNS for house trespass and theft.

During investigation, the police arrested a 28-year-old Nepalese national, Ravi, a resident of Rolpa Anchal Salayan in Nepal. He was caught on Chail Road near Kandaghat with both stolen motors in his possession. The police said Ravi had planned to sell them at a junk shop using his scooter, which has also been seized. He resides in a rented room in Sainj village and works as a driver.

Ravi was produced before the court today for remand. Police are verifying his criminal background.
