10 kg marijuana seized, 1 held

The special investigation unit (SIU) of Baddi Police has seized 10.348 kg marijuana from a taxi driver at Malkhumajra village on Thursday evening.
The arrested accused has been identified as Praveen Kumar, a resident of Fagli area of Shimla.
Baddi DSP Navdeep Singh said an SIU team found Kumar’s car parked under suspicious circumstances near Bhud barrier and upon search, recovered 10.348 kg marijuana.
Investigation revealed that Kumar had secured the contraband from Pinjore from a migrant from Bihar. He had come to Baddi to visit a temple and had slept in his car, which was also used to sell the contraband locally. The car is owned by his brother.
The police have registered a case under the NDPS Act against him.
