Shimla, December 17
To reduce the risk of non-communicable diseases and create awareness among people, the National Programme for the Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke, Health and Wellness Centres have been launched by the Centre.

“This programme has also been implemented on a priority basis in Himachal Pradesh,” said NHM Director Dr Nipun Jindal.

Under this programme, 10 Nirog clinics will be established at Regional Hospital, Bilaspur, Zonal Hospital, Dharamsala, Regional Hospital, Reckong Peo, Regional Hospital, Kullu, Zonal Hospital, Mandi, Regional Hospital, Solan, Regional Hospital, Una, Civil Hospital, Rampur, Civil Hospital, Palampur and Civil Hospital, Paonta Sahib.
He said the OPD for hypertension and diabetes clinic would be scheduled on Monday, OPD for cancer screening on Tuesday (oral, breast and cervical), OPD for chemotherapy and cancer care on Wednesday, high blood pressure on Thursday, diabetes, palliative care on Friday and for COPD OPD is scheduled for Saturday in these clinics.
He further said diseases, including cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, deafness, blindness, epilepsy and mental illness, were also being monitored through the e-health software in the state.
