10 Pakistani Hindus with long term visa in state; no deportation needed: Police

At least 10 Pakistani nationals belonging to Hindu community with valid long term visa are in Himachal Pradesh, police said here today. The police have mentioned that as per the directions of the Union Ministry of External Affairs, the long term visas issued to these Hindu Pakistani nationals are valid, hence, no deportation action is required.

According to the police, all these 10 Pakistani nationals are in Kangra district. The police have also revealed that there are no Pakistanis in Chamba, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kullu, Mandi, Sirmaur, Una and Kinnaur districts as well as in Baddi, Nurpur and in Dehra police districts. Police also mentioned that two Pakistan nationals, who were in Solan district holding medical visas, were have been deported from the country on April 26. Additionally, the status for Shimla district is under verification and will soon be updated.

DGP Atul Verma said that the Himachal Pradesh Police were committed to ensuring compliance with visa regulations and directives issued by the Central Government. “Regular monitoring and review of foreign nationals residing in the state are being carried out to maintain security and legal compliance,” he said.

The police have also requested the people to immediately report any suspicious activities involving foreign nationals to the nearest police station or by dialling the emergency helpline number 112.

After the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam, The Himachal Pradesh police went on a high alert and beefed up its security in the border areas mainly with Jammu and Kashmir. Police is also keeping a strict vigil on people and regular checking of IDs of people is being done across the state. Additionally, all the SPs were directed to ensure that no Pakistani nationals should be present in their areas.
