The state witnessed 100 new Covid cases today, taking the number to 5,101, including 27 deaths.
Sirmaur registered 30 cases, Solan 16, Kangra 15, Chamba eight, Bilaspur six, Mandi four, Hamirpur and Kinnaur recorded three each, Shimla two and Kullu one. The number of active cases in the state stands at 1,436.
Thirty Covid cases have been detected in Sirmaur district since Sunday evening, taking the tally to 649 with 172 active cases and 456 having been cured.
DC, Sirmaur, RK Pruthi said 19 cases were detected on Sunday night and they include six members of a family from Purruwala in Paonta Sahib. They are the contacts of an earlier positive case. Four cases are from Valley Iron Steel unit, Paonta Sahib, one case is from Zeon Lifesciences, Paonta Sahib. A constable from the Purruwala police station and a 50-year-old private doctor from Nageta are also among the new cases. Eleven more people tested positive today — one from Paonta Sahib and 10 from Nahan subdivision.
In Solan district, at least 16 cases, including 14 from the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) industrial belt, were reported today.
Medical Officer, Health, Solan, Dr NK Gupta said an inter-state traveller from Solan and an indoor patient from MM medical college, Kumarhatti, were found infected. In the BBN area, a pregnant woman from Manakpur contracted the infection. Meanwhile, two persons from the BBN belt, who died at the PGI, Chandigarh, also tested positive for Covid.
In Baddi, the Morepen Laboratories plant was shut for 48 hours today after one of its employees was found Covid-positive.
