108 ambulance service doesn’t have life-saving drugs
Solan, January 13
The ambulance service catering to the Solan regional hospital has been found toe be lacking in emergency care with even life-saving drugs, as per the list provided by the National Health Mission (NHM), not available.
An inspection conducted by Medical Superintendent, Dr SL Verma, exposed the poor state of four ambulances comprising two running under 108 and two others under the 102 service.
The inspection revealed that the first-aid kit in the ambulances had expired medicines. It did not have the emergency care equipment required by a patient. There was no facility to provide water to patients being ferried and no stretcher. The vehicle lacked a valid pollution certificate and fitness certificate, besides insurance papers. Solan is the home constituency of state Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr DR Shandil.
Dr Verma said a three-member committee led by Dr Sumit Sood had been constituted to inspect the ambulances on a monthly basis. The committee would also ascertain whether deficiencies pointed out in the inspection have been rectified.
