Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya (CSK HPKV), Palampur, Vice-Chancellor Naveen Kumar today, as the chief guest at a virtual sensitisation programme on “Fostering Entrepreneurship Education in Agricultural and Allied Sectors”, highlighted the pivotal role of agriculture in providing employment and driving economic growth of stakeholders. Kumar emphasised the importance of acquiring technical knowledge and skills for students to transform agriculture into a sustainable and profitable venture.

The programme was jointly organised by CSK HPKV, Palampur, and ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), Hyderabad.

The event aimed to educate students about entrepreneurial opportunities in agriculture and allied sectors.

Over 1,100 students and faculty members of the university and ICAR-NAARM participated in the programme.

ICAR-NAARM Director Dr Srinivasa Rao, in his presidential address, emphasised the multifaceted importance of agriculture in ensuring food security and sustainable development. He exhorted students to engage in enterprises that not only contributed to economic growth but also promoted environmental protection and social wellbeing.

College of Agriculture Dean MC Rana and the university’s Nodal Officer Akhilesh Sharma shared the university’s expectations from the sensitisation programme, and highlighted ICAR-NAARM’s proactive role in sensitising students from across the country to the field of ‘agripreneurship’ (entrepreneurship in agriculture).
