12 employees, recruited between 2012-17, to face action

The police will act against 12 government employees who were recruited between 2012 and 2017. The action follows the revelations made by the main accused in the constable recruitment scam.

In a press conference held here today, Kangra Superintendent of police Vimukt Ranjan said the employees took help of the accused clearing written examinations for the recruitment in various departments.

He said the accused had admitted to help eight employees in the police department, three in the HRTC and one jail warden. The police have also written to departments to act against these employees.

Vikram Chaudhary, main accused in the case, surrendered before the police on January 5.

Sources said the investigations might lead the police to certain officials who might be hand in glove with him. The police have arrested 30 accused in the case, which include imposters from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal and Rajasthan.

The sources said the main accused was carrying out his operations for the past about 7 to 8 years. He might be having accomplices in other states also through which the imposters were arranged.

The modus operandi of the accused in the constable recruitment was to hire imposters for taking exams. The imposters used to carry technical gadgets as cameras, bluetooth devices and speakers into examination centres to solve the papers. The fact that the imposters were sure of getting into the examination centres indicates that the main accused might be having some support in the staff that was conducting examinations.
