On the second day of curfew imposed in Una district, DC Sandeep Kumar today ordered its relaxation for three hours from 4 pm to 7 pm.

Addressing mediapersons here, he said the relaxation had been given only to enable people to buy essential items. He said from Thursday, the curfew would be relaxed every day from 7 am to 10 am.

As per the orders, shops selling essential items including vegetables, fruits, grocery, meat, animal feed, insecticides and pesticides would be open. Besides, he said private hospitals were allowed to function during the relaxation period.

Kumar said during the relaxation period, people would be allowed only to move on foot to the nearest market place, adding that the movement of vehicles is strictly banned. Petrol pumps, LPG agencies and medicine shops are allowed to function round the clock during the curfew period.

The DC also notified the timing for transaction and business at the three vegetable and grain markets in the district, including Una, Takarla and Santoshgarh. The wholesale traders will be allowed to procure items from the vegetable and grain markets from 5 am to 8 am while farmers will be allowed to sell their produce at the markets from 7 pm to 9 pm.

Sick and senior citizens, who have nobody to look after, are advised to get their names registered with the executive officer of the municipal committee or panchayat secretary so that the district administration can make necessary arrangements to deliver medicines and food at their homes, said the DC.

Kumar said 259 persons had been home-quarantined as a precautionary measure in the district. SP Karthikeyan Gokulachandran said 12 vehicles were challaned today for disobeying curfew orders.
