12,007 damaged water supply schemes restored, says Himachal Deputy CM
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri today said that the Jal Shakti Department had managed to temporarily restore 12,007 water supply schemes despite adverse conditions caused by heavy rain in the state.
He said, “This accounts for nearly 98 per cent of the total water schemes damaged due to heavy rain, flashfloods and landslides. The total loss to the affected water schemes has been estimated as Rs 925.85 crore,” he added.
He praised the efforts of the department officers and staff, who worked tirelessly round the clock to restore the water schemes under difficult circumstances to provide relief to the affected people.
Agnihotri, who holds the charge of the Jal Shakti Department, said that 2,624 irrigation schemes were also affected due to heavy rain, resulting in an estimated loss of Rs 244.19 crore.
