70 national pilots also to participate in the event to be inaugurated by CM
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will inaugurate the third edition of the Shimla Flying Festival and Hospitality Expo-2025 commencing on October 25. As many as 15 international paragliders from seven countries, including the top-ranked pilot from China, and 70 national paragliders will be participating in it.
Arun Rawat, the festival’s organiser and the founder of The Glide Inn Adventure Resort, while addressing a press conference here today, said, “Through this festival, we aim to showcase the power of community, courage and collaboration in putting Himachal on the world adventure map while uplifting local enterprises. The expo aims to create a unique confluence of adventure, culture and commerce, promoting sustainable tourism, empowering local businesses and inspiring a new generation of adventure enthusiasts in the state.”
He added, “This will be a historic festival for India, as it is the first time that the pre-world cup and the pre-Asian League paragliding championship will be held together in the country. We aim to position Shimla as a premier global destination for adventure sports while promoting Himachal Pradesh as a key hub for international air sports and eco-tourism.”
China’s top-ranked pilot would also take part in the championship for the first time. This highlights India’s rising prominence on the international paragliding stage, he said.
About the hospitality expo, Rawat said that it would feature over 60 micro, small and self-help groups (SHGs) from across the state having stalls showcasing organic foods, wellness products, handicrafts, eco-friendly innovations and traditional Himachali offerings.
He said that the festival would also feature special appearances by well-known personalities of the state. “On October 25, renowned Pahari singer Kuldeep Sharma, known as the Nati king, will entertain the gathering with his energetic performances. Further, former WWE superstar Dalip Singh Rana, professionally known as the Great Khali, will grace the celebrations on October 26. He will be promoting fitness among the youth. Shimla (Urban) MLA Harish Janartha and Dr Rajneesh, Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner of MSMEs, will attend the closing ceremony,” Rawat added.
