150 lemon saplings distributed to women’s groups in Nela ward
Mandi, July 25
Under the “every home plants a tree” campaign, the Nela ward 4 under the Mandi Municipal Corporation has launched the first phase in Shilha Kipar village today. Vikas Sharma, the corporation’s Joint Commissioner, distributed 150 lemon saplings to the members of the Shilha Kipar women’s groups.
According to the ward councillor Rajender Mohan, these saplings were procured from the Horticulture Department. He said every household in the ward would receive a fruit-bearing plant and the responsibility of nurturing it would be assigned to the family’s female head.
“More plants will be procured from the horticulture and forest departments. Several individuals from the corporation are stepping forward to sponsor plants. Women’s groups across Nela, Chadyana, Mallori and self-help groups like Kalyar, Chaneda, Seglu, Kaval Padhar, Jarli and Mallori are ensuring tree planting in every household,” he said.
