16 injured in Una mishap

Sixteen persons, including a child, were injured, when the Tempo in which they were travelling, overturned on the Una-Hamirpur highway at Samoor Kalan village of Una district today.

As per a report by the District Emergency Operation Centre, the vehicle was carrying devotees who were returning to their homes in Amritsar after paying obeisance at Baba Balak Nath shrine in Hamirpur district.

The driver failed to negotiate a curve on a slope, resulting in the accident, the report added.

The injured were shifted to the district hospital. While 15 persons received minor injuries, the child sustained serious injuries. The district administration has provided Rs 5,000 for the treatment of the child and Rs 2,000 to the other injured.
