With 16 new cases, the number of Covid patients in the state has risen to 518, including five members of a family who had returned from Delhi and been in quarantine at a hotel in Ghumarwin in Bilaspur district.

The five persons include two men of 60 and 34 years, woman of 34 year and two children aged 10 and two.

There has been a steep surge in the number of cases in Kangra which has touched 142, including 61 active cases, 80 recovered patients and one death. Of the four cases today, three had returned from Delhi while one had come home from Gurugram. All four were in institutional quarantine and have now been shifted to the covid care centres at Dadh and Baijnath.

Of the 16 new cases, five are in Bilaspur, four in Kangra, three in Una, two in Shimla and one each in Solan and Chamba.

Man isolated in Una

A youth, who boarded the Jan Shatabdi train to Una from Delhi, was admitted to the Una district hospital on his arrival here on Saturday evening as the staff noticed Covid symptoms in him.

The youth belongs to Chakk village of Amb subdivision and was returning home from Delhi by the Jan Shatabdi train, which reached Una at 10.15 pm. The youth had high fever and throat infection. The railways staff informed the authorities at the Una railway station. A sample from his throat has been sent to Tanda medical college.

3 new containment zones

Three new containment zones were notified by the Una District Magistrate today after three coronavirus cases came late last night. A 32-year-old woman from Badoh panchayat in Gagret, 29-year-old man from Bhaira in Amb and another 34-year-old man from Basdehra village in Una tested positive.

District Magistrate Sandeep Kumar notified containment zones in ward number 1 and 3 of Badoh, ward number 3 of Bhaira and ward number 9 of Basdehra panchayats where complete curfew restrictions will be in force for the next 14 days.
