17 new AYUSH centres established in Kangra last year: Minister Goma
The district-level Republic Day celebrations in Kangra district were held with great enthusiasm at the historic Police Ground in Dharamsala. Youth Services and Sports Minister Yadavindra Goma presided over the event, unfurling the national flag and taking the salute at an impressive march past by contingents of police, home guards, NCC, Scouts and Guides, and NSS students from various schools. The celebrations featured vibrant cultural performances by students against the picturesque Dhauladhar mountains.
In his address, Minister Goma paid tribute to the invaluable contributions and sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters and Constitution makers. He emphasised the importance of their efforts in securing Independence and establishing the country as a republic.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to promoting sports, Goma announced an increase in prize money, diet allowances, and travel facilities for national and international-level athletes. Recently, 21 international medal winners from Himachal Pradesh were awarded a total of Rs 14.77 crore in prize money.
The minister also noted progress in the AYUSH sector, mentioning the establishment of 17 new AYUSH Health and Wellness Centres in 2024, bringing the total to 155 in Kangra district. He shared that 215 yoga guides have been appointed across the district, conducting free yoga camps in panchayats, wards and schools.
Earlier in the day, Minister Goma visited the War Memorial, where he laid floral tributes and lit the Amar Jawan Jyoti to honor martyrs. He remarked that serving in the armed forces is a source of pride for the youth of Himachal Pradesh.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including MLA Ashish Butail, Cooperative Bank Chairman Sanjay Chauhan, Mayor Neenu Sharma, former Mayor Davinder Jaggi, Kangra DC Hemraj Berwa, SP Shalini Agnihotri, and others.
The minister, accompanied by Col KKS Dadwal, president of the society, and veterans including Col GB Thapa and Col NC Katoch, signed the visitors’ book at the War Memorial. Brig Devika Gurung and Deputy Director of Sainik Welfare Col Guleria also joined him, alongside officials from the civil administration.
