17,000 opium plants destroyed in Mandi district
In a major crackdown on illegal narcotics, joint teams from Aut Police Station and Balichowki Police Post unearthed large-scale opium cultivation in Khuhan area of Mandi district yesterday. The operation was conducted during routine patrolling in the villages of Khuhan, Majoun and Matla, all falling under the jurisdiction of Aut Police Station.
During the raid, police teams discovered and destroyed nearly 17,000 opium plants being grown illegally in the region. Three cases were registered under Section 18 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Aut Police Station.
Authorities have said that investigations are going on and efforts are underway to identify and take strict legal action against those involved in the illicit cultivation.
Police have reiterated its commitment to the state’s ‘zero-tolerance policy’ against drug-related offenses, assuring continued enforcement against such nefarious illegal activities.
