18 teams participate in Shivaratri football tournament in Mandi

The Shivaratri Football Tournament began yesterday at the Paddal Ground in Mandi district, with the event scheduled to run until February 16. The tournament — which features competitions in three categories: U-15, women’s football, and senior football — was inaugurated by Mandi ADC Rohit Rathour. DSP Headquarters Dinesh Kumar and IPS officer C Ravichandran were also present on the occasion.

A total of 18 teams, including senior, junior, and women’s teams, are participating in the event. The first match was held between the Under-15 teams of Greenland Mandi and Sejal Club Sundernagar, with Greenland Mandi emerging victorious with a 3-0 score line. All three goals were scored by Nutan.

In the second match, Bhupender Club Sundernagar faced Hattgad, and it was a one-sided affair, with Sundernagar winning 10-0. The Under-15 category final was between Greenland Mandi and Bhupender Club Sundernagar, with the latter winning in a thrilling penalty shootout.

Football association officials, including Praveen Sharma, Jagdish Raja, Rajkumar Chirag and Kamal Kishore, were also present at the event to oversee the proceedings.
