Government pensioners, representing 18 different unions, today staged a protest at the Municipal Park here to press the government for payment of different arrears.

HS Rana, president of the Una District Pensioners’ Association, demanded that their arrears, along with medical bills, were unpaid by the government for a very long time, forcing them and their families to face financial hardships.

Continuous medical assistance, which was expensive to get was much needed in the old age, he said, adding that while old bills were pending, new ones kept on accumulating. Rana rued that despite memorandums to the state government at various forums, there has been no response or action.
