2,293 clear test for Van Mitra posts

As many as 2,890 eligible job aspirants appeared in the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) conducted by the state Forest Department. Of them, 2,293 candidates qualified for 90 posts of Van Mitra in Nurpur forest division. As per official information, Nurpur forest division had received 3,821 applications for these posts, but after scrutiny 2,890 applicants were found eligible for the PET.
The department conducted PETs at five different locations in the forest ranges of Nurpur, Indora, Rey, Jawali and Kotla. The male candidates had to run five kms in 30 minutes, whereas female candidates had to run 1,500 m in 10 minutes. As many as 462 out of 573 in Nurpur, 629 out of 703 in Indora, 282 out of 379 in Rey, 626 out of 875 in Jawali, and 294 out 360 in Kotla qualified.
The state government is going to recruit 2,061 Van Mitras in all forest divisions across the state. A scheme has been launched to engage the Van Mitras with a Rs 10,000 monthly emolument for six working hours per day. They will assist in forest wealth protection and work for tree plantation with forest guards. They will get only an honorarium and not salaries like government employees.
Nurpur Divisional Forest Officer Amit Sharma said a merit list of the successful PET candidates would be prepared with marks obtained in their Class XII examinations, BPL, SC/ST, NCC/NSS certificates and the final selection would be done after interviews.
