Divers of the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) today fished out two bodies from the Gobind Sagar reservoir near Kolka village in Bangana subdivision.
Three persons had drowned, while the fourth one had managed to swim to the shore after their boat capsized on Tuesday. Bangana SDM Vishal Sharma confirmed that the bodies of Aman Kumar (23), a resident of Chulahdi village, and Karnail Singh alias Kala (38), a resident of Thana Kalan village, were fished out this afternoon.
The body of the third deceased, Deepak (24), a resident of Thada panchayat, was fished out by the locals a few hours after the incident, while Jeevan Kumar (40), a resident of Nurgadhi, the fourth occupant of the boat, had reached the shore safely.
All four were acquaintances and belonged to Bangana subdivision.
The SDM said since the water was very deep, the services of the divers of the BBMB, Nangal, were requisitioned. The bodies were lying about 50 feet below the water surface.
According to the lone survivor, they spotted an unattended oar-driven small boat near the shore and decided to take it into the water. However, some distance away, the boat lost balance and capsized.
Sharma said that an immediate relief of Rs 10,000 had been released to the relatives of each of the three deceased persons, while the total amount, as per the compensation manual, would be released shortly.
