The police yesterday seized a total of 7.29 grams of heroin (Chitta) in two separate operations conducted under different police station jurisdictions in Mandi district, continuing their crackdown on illegal narcotics in the region.
In the first incident, during a routine patrolling and traffic checking operation under the jurisdiction of the Mandi Sadar police station, an accused riding a motorcycle (bearing registration number HP65 A 1753) was apprehended. The individual, identified as Hemraj, a resident of Padhar tehsil in Mandi district, was found in possession of 4.53 grams of heroin.
A case was registered against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Mandi Sadar police station and further investigation initiated into the matter.
In the second incident, acting on a tip-off, the police carried out a targeted operation and apprehended another individual, identified as Sunny, a resident of Kummi under the Balh tehsil in Mandi district. From his possession, the police recovered 2.76 grams of heroin. A separate case under the NDPS Act was registered at the Balh police station. Further investigation is in progress to trace possible connections and drug supply sources.
