2 killed, 3 injured as car falls into gorge in Bharmour

Two people were killed and three injured as the car they were travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near Retan in Bharmour of Chamba district on Sunday.

The car was on its way from Bharmour to Agasan village when the driver lost control over the wheel. The vehicle fell into the gorge, killing two occupants on the spot. Shankar Das and Banko Devi were residents of Agasan village.

The injured, Chaman Lal, Aryan Kumar and Om Prakash, were rushed to the civil hospital in Bharmour, where their condition is said to be stable.

Police said locals, alerted by the sound of the crash, were the first to reach the scene. A rescue team reached the spot and retrieved the bodies with the help of locals.

Additional District Magistrate Kulbir Rana said the administration is extending immediate relief to the families.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered and an investigation is on to ascertain the cause of the accident.
