A 25-year-old man was killed after the car he was driving veered off the road and plunged into a 400-metre gorge in Bharmour subdivision of Chamba district late on Thursday.
The mishap took on the Kundi-Sunara link road, resulting in the driver’s death on the spot. The deceased has been identified as Anuj Kumar, a resident of Sorma village in Andarond Panchayat Brehi, and was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The incident came to light early Friday morning when local mule handlers, heading out for their daily work, noticed the wrecked car and informed the police. Upon receiving the report, police arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and sent it to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College, Chamba, for postmortem.
Heartbreakingly, Anuj had welcomed a newborn child into his family just 10 days ago. The accident occurred a mere 100 metres from his home. The police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the accident.
