Solan, August 5
As part of its annual plantation initiative, the College of Horticulture, Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, organised a plantation drive on the university campus today.
This year’s focus was on enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the university, with over 250 saplings of ornamental shrubs and trees planted near the College of Horticulture.
Director (Research) Sanjeev Chauhan was the chief guest at the event, while all statutory officers of the university joined as guests of honour.
Faculty members actively participated in the drive, which also included planting initiatives near the Sports Complex. Various saplings of ornamental shrubs, including Putranjiva roxburghii, Pencil Pine, Golden Juniper and Sapium sebiferum, were planted. The university also undertook a month-long Van Mahotsav campaign this year, during which departments, Krishi Vigyan Kendras and Regional Horticulture Training and Research Stations conducted plantation drives focused on native forest species, fruit trees and ornamental shrubs. — TNS
