Shimla, July 1
With 26 new cases being reported today, the total number of Covid cases in the state rose to 979, including eight deaths.
The total number of active cases stands at 341, while those who have recovered from the infection is 617.

Six cases were reported from Kangra, five each from Hamirpur and Kinnaur districts, two each from Mandi, Una and Bilaspur and one each from Lahaul-Spiti, Shimla, Sirmaur and Solan.
One case in Sirmaur
A 39-year-old man, who had come back on June 16 to Paonta Sahib, tested Covid positive, taking the tally to 39 in Sirmaur district.
Deputy Commissioner RK Pruthi said his two earlier samples, drawn on June 23 and 25, had been inconclusive. The third sample was taken on June 29. He was in institutional quarantine at Paonta Sahib and his other family members had tested negative.
He was shifted to a Covid Care Centre at Trilokpur as he was asymptomatic. There were nine active cases in Sirmaur district while 23 persons had been cured.
One infected in Kangra
One more person tested positive for coronavirus in Kangra, taking the number of cases in the district to 273. The patient is a 65-year-old woman of Kuthera village in Palampur, who had returned from Delhi on June 16.
