Education Minister Rohit Thakur today inaugurated a drinking water scheme constructed at a cost of Rs 3.26 crore in gram panchayats of Ghunda Bhadech and Pragatinagar in his Jubbal-Kotkhai Assembly constituency. He said that the Jal Shakti Vibhag and the Power Department were implementing other schemes worth Rs 32.28 crore in the area.
Rohit said that a drinking water scheme located on the Pabbar river being built at a cost of Rs 38 crore would be completed by the end of this financial year. “A Rs 4-crore scheme for Anu Nihara Chakuna has been approved and projects worth Rs 40 crore have been approved under the Prime Minister’s Agricultural Irrigation Scheme,” he added.
He said that a Kendriya Vidyalaya had been approved for Kotkhai. “Besides, new courses have been started at Engineering College, Gumma,” he added. He inspected the under-construction building of Government Senior Secondary School, Gumma, and ordered officials concerned that the work be expedited.
He laid the foundation stone of a panchayat bhawan in Ghunda Bhadech. He assured the villagers that roads damaged due to heavy rain and landslides would be repaired soon. “The work is underway to upgrade the Himri Pajor-Thermala road at a cost of Rs 17.26 crore,” he added.
