Three individuals, including two residents of Punjab, have been arrested in Shimla with 21.07 gm of chitta (heroin).
The accused have been identified as Anuj Kumar Duggal (41), a resident of Rawli village in Kandaghat Tehsil, Solan and Puneet Pal Singh (39) and Lalit Kumar Sawrawal (27), both residents of Amritsar, Punjab.
According to police sources, a tip-off was received indicating that several individuals were en route to Shimla with heroin in their possession. Acting swiftly, a police patrol team intercepted the suspects in Shoghi, approximately 13 km from the state capital and recovered the contraband from them.
Confirming the incident, Shimla Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rattan Negi stated that a case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Further investigation is currently underway.
