Mandi, February 19
Revenue, Horticulture and Tribal Development Minister Jagat Singh Negi inaugurated the three-day state-level Tsechu fair celebrated in the memory of Guru Padmasambhava on his birth anniversary at Rewalsar in Mandi district on Sunday.
“A master plan for the beautification of Rewalsar will be made in the next three months. Efforts will be made to develop Rewalsar as a holy pilgrimage place and a beautiful tourist destination,” Negi said.
“Under the master plan, basic facilities will be expanded at the place. The work to lay a sewerage network in the area will be completed soon to ensure that dirty water does not flow into the holy lake,” he added.

Negi said that efforts would be made to open new patwar circles in the area. He also announced that a stage would be set up for organising cultural activities in Rewalsar.
He said the government was determined to make Himachal Pradesh a fruit state. “The Shiva project — worth Rs 1,300 crore — had started, in which fruit trees would be planted on 6,000 hectares. 15,000 fruit growers would benefit from the project, in which Mandi district was included,” he added
He said that a Sub-Horticulture Office would be opened in Rewalsar in the area. Within a few months, 96,000 mutation and 6,000 participation cases had also been settled in revenue adalats.
These cases had been pending for long, he added.
He said under the new Revenue Act, timely disposal of marking and division cases was ensured. He added that the cases of division and marking would also be settled through revenue courts in future.
Negi said the Budget presented by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu would make the state self-reliant. The government had significantly increased the honorarium of public representatives and the daily wages of MGNREGA workers to Rs 300, he added.
He said the procurement price of milk had been increased. The women of Lahaul and Spiti would start getting Rs 1,500 under the Indira Gandhi Samman Nidhi Yojana and gradually the women of the entire state would get Rs 1,500.
“Rewalsar is a sacred place for three religions and the Tsechu fair is a famous festival,” he said. The fair was a wonderful example of religious harmony. He wished happiness in everyone’s life and said the blessings of Guru Padmasambhava were for all. Negi credited Guru Padmasambhava with bringing Buddhism to Tibet and Bhutan. Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) Chairman Sanjeev Guleria thanked Negi for inaugurating the fair. He said that the Budget would definitely give impetus to the development of the state.
On the occasion, the students of Prajapita Brahma Kumari Ishwariya University (Rewalsar), Government Senior Secondary School (Rewalsar) and the Kisan Mahila Mandal Dhar presented cultural programmes.
Former Minister Phunchok Rai, SDM and Fair Committee Chairman Vishal Sharma, Naib Tehsildar Tek Chand Kashyap, Nagar Panchayat (Rewalsar) president Sunita Gupta, gram panchayat (lower Rewalsar) pradhan Kaushalya Devi, Tribal Advisory Council member Kesang Rapchin and other guests attended the fair.
