There is no let-up in coronavirus cases as the state witnessed 316 cases today, taking the tally to 8,147. With three deaths, the fatality figure reached 61.

The highest number of 69 cases were reported in Solan, 49 in Una, 48 in Chamba, 40 in Sirmaur, 36 in Kangra, 28 in Hamirpur, 19 in Shimla, 15 in Bilaspur, seven in Kullu, four in Mandi and one in Kinnaur.

69 cases in Solan

Sixtynine persons, including three policemen from Parwanoo, tested positive for Covid in Solan district on Wednesday. As many as 21 cases were detected in the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh industrial belt. Two deaths were also also reported. A 32-year-old expectant mother from Parwanoo died at MMU Medical College, Kumarhatti. She had tested Covid positive a few days ago.

A 40-year-old Paonta Sahib resident died of Covid-19 at the IGMC, Shimla, on Wednesday. He was admitted to Nahan Medical College on Tuesday and had tested positive for coronavirus. He was suffering from breathlessness.

49 cases in Una

Una district reported 49 new cases, the highest in a day so far. These include a journalist, who died this morning. Besides, five more journalists reported positive. There are reports that a government employee, associated with the state PR department also tested positive.

A 56-year-old native of Jawalapur in Mandi segment died of Covid in the Zonal Hospital, Mandi, late Tuesday evening. He was reportedly suffering from serious ailments.
