Three persons have been arrested for allegedly duping a doctor of Rs 2.7 crore on the pretext of exorbitant returns on trading, officials said here today.
The accused have been identified as Bal Mohan (40), a resident of Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand; Amrit Das (40), a resident of Gurugram, Haryana; and Gaurav Ahuja (42), also a resident of Gurugram.
As per the complaint filed by Dr Ajay Goyal, he alleged that in November 2024, a person who introduced himself as a senior officer with a leading financial market advisory service contacted him and offered him higher returns on investment. The person also shared a link of a website with the victim and added him to a WhatsApp group, offering investment advice.
Later on, the victim transferred an amount of Rs 2,70,19,316.50 which was then transferred to various anonymous accounts by the scammers. On suspicion of being cheated, the victim approached the police after which a case was registered on December 17, 2024, at Cyber Crime Police Station, Southern Range, Shimla.
