Three houses were destroyed in a massive fire that rendered six families homeless at Gagyani village in the Chidgaon area of Rohru subdivison in Shimla district on Monday night.

No loss to life was reported. The fire brigade reached the spot and controlled the fire.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, but eyewitnesses said it could be due to short-circuit. The houses of Kesar, Kartar, Kaul, Chetram, Naresh and Balkrishan reduced to ashes. “The district administration has given an immediate relief of Rs 5,000 each to the victims,” said Rohru SDM BR Sharma.
