3 killed, 2 injured as ambulance falls into gorge in Una
Three persons were killed and two others injured when a private ambulance carrying a patient and family members from Jassur in Kangra district fell into a deep gorge near Manghuwall, ahead of Gagret in Una district, in the wee hours of Saturday.
According to reports, the victims were on their way to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital in Ludhiana after being referred from Dr Rajendra Prasad Medical College and Hospital, Tanda.
The driver reportedly lost control of the ambulance while negotiating a sharp curve, causing it to veer off the road and plunge into the gorge.
Three occupants, including the patient, died on the spot, while two others sustained serious injuries. The injured were rushed to Civil Hospital in Hoshiarpur for treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Sanjeev Kumar Pathiyar, Omkar Chand and Ramesh Chand, all residents of Pathiyar village, Nagrota Bagwan tehsil, in Kangra district. The injured have been identified as Renu Bala and ambulance driver Bobby. Their condition was said to be stable.
Local police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
