3-storeyed house gutted in Hatkoti; no casualties reported
A three-storeyed house in Hatkoti, located in Saraswati Nagar, a sub-tehsil of Shimla district, was severely damaged in a fire that broke out on Monday morning. Fortunately, no loss of life was reported in the incident.
According to reports, the fire started around 10 am in the residence of Prem Prakash Sharma. The blaze completely destroyed the third floor of the house, which included two bedrooms, a hall and a kitchen.
Alert local residents noticed the fire and promptly informed the police and fire department. Fire tenders arrived on the scene and, with the help of the locals, managed to bring the flames under control.
District administration officials confirmed the incident and stated that the cause of the fire is still under investigation. The estimated damage is reported to be around Rs 40 lakh. As immediate relief, the administration has provided the affected family with Rs 20,000 in cash and two tarpaulins.
