Bharmour, August 14
To promote religious tourism in the mountainous Bharmour tribal subdivision of Chamba district under the MGNREGA scheme, three trekking itineraries would be developed to link popular shrines with the Pathankot-Chamba-Bharmour national highway, which is the main lifeline of the region.
Disclosing this here today, Bharmour MLA Jia Lal Kapoor said these trekking routes were from Kugti village to Kartik Swami temple, Banni Mata temple to Chhadolay Wali Mata temple and Bharmour to Bharmani Mata temple.
Kapoor said for the first phase, the state government had kept a provision of Rs 10 lakh for the development of these itineraries.
In Kuleth and Garima panchayats, a park would be constructed under the ‘Panchwati’ scheme with an outlay of Rs 10 lakh sanctioned by the government, Kapoor said.
“Apart from this, locals are being motivated to grow walnuts, apples and other fruits to beckon tourists from other parts of the country,” Kapoor said.
