As many as 305 procurement centres will be opened for the implementation of Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) for the procurement of grade ‘C’ apple in the state this season.

“As many as 169 collection centres will be opened and operated by the HPMC and 136 by HIMFED. Funds amounting to Rs 259.84 lakh have been proposed for it by the Horticulture Department,” said a spokesperson of Horticulture Department. The procurement price has been fixed at Rs 10.50 per kg for this year and the handing charges will be Rs 2.75 per kg.

He further said that fruits would be procured in 35 kg gunny bags with 2.5 per cent more fruits to compensate for evapotranspiration and respiration losses.
