As many as 358 roads, including one national highway, are closed for traffic across the state due to heavy rainfall over the last few days. Besides, 599 distribution transformers and 177 water supply schemes have also been disrupted.

In late afternoon today, heavy rains lashed Shimla and its upper parts. The hill stations of Kufri and Narkanda in particular received heavy rainfall, logging 47.5 mm and 49.5 mm precipitation, respectively.

For the next two days, the weather department has issued yellow alert for heavy rainfall and thunderstorm at isolated places in some districts. From August 11 onwards, the intensity of the precipitation is likely to increase. The department has issued an orange alert from August 11 till August 14.
