Scores of tourists and devotees are flocking to Anjani Mahadev near Solang Nala in Manali to pay obeisance to a magnificent 35-foot-tall Shivalingam made of snow. This natural marvel forms from a waterfall after temperatures dip in the region and remains a significant attraction for visitors. The size of the Shivalingam grows as the temperatures continue to fall. Last year too, the Shivalingam reached a height of 35 feet.
Tourists are flocking to take a look at the natural Shivalingam, which stands at an altitude of 11,500 feet. Anjani Mahadev can be approached after a 2 km trek from Solang Nala. A horse riding track has also been developed in the area to assist pilgrims on the steep ascent. This track not only provides a convenient option for those who may find the trek challenging but also offers a unique experience of horseback riding amidst the snow-capped landscape.
In addition to visiting Anjani Mahadev, tourists are also enjoying skiing and other winter sports at Solang. Activities such as paragliding and mountain biking are popular among the visitors. The north and south portals of the Atal Tunnel are also buzzing with tourist activity. The Atal Tunnel, a marvel of modern engineering, provides year-round connectivity to the Lahaul-Spiti valley and has become a new point of interest for tourists.
Reports suggest nearly 1,000 tourist vehicles are entering Manali daily. Additionally, thousands of tourists also visit the town every day in buses and travellers. The tourist influx further increases during the weekends, creating a bustling atmosphere in Manali. Tourists who come to Manali to see snowfall are now also venturing to remote tourist places like Anjani Mahadev, Dhundhi, and Hamta.
Local hoteliers Chaman and Ritesh said tourism businesses and tourists alike were eagerly awaiting snowfall. The anticipated snowfall has not yet occurred in Manali, forcing tourists to venture into far-flung areas to witness the white beauty.
Manali continues to charm visitors with its scenic beauty, adventurous sports, and cultural significance. The devotion of tourists to the snow Shivalingam at Anjani Mahadev highlights the spiritual and cultural allure of the region. As the winter progresses, both tourists and locals look forward to the magical transformation that the snowfall will bring to the enchanting town.
