Thirty-nine students from Himachal Pradesh returned with a sense of pride and accomplishment after attending the prestigious “Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue, 2025” held at Bharat Mandapam campus in New Delhi. The event, organised by the Union Youth Ministry, was conducted under the aegis of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP), the state’s nodal agency.
The students, representing various private and government educational institutions in Himachal Pradesh, were among the 3,000 selected from an initial pool of 30 lakh participants across India. These finalists participated in the National Youth Festival on behalf of their respective states.
On January 12, Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary, the students had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Witnessing the Prime Minister’s address at such a grand event left the students thrilled and inspired.
Prof Sat Prakash Bansal, Vice-Chancellor of CUHP, expressed immense pride in the university’s role in representing Himachal at this prestigious platform. He congratulated the returning students for their exceptional performances, highlighting how their participation brought pride to the state. Prof Malkiyat Singh and Dr Pooja Awasthi, Public Relations Officer, accompanied the delegation to Delhi.
Among the 39 participants, Suraj from Government College Sanjauli Shimla, Vaishnavi Dogra from Degree College Dharamsala, and Nitin from Pharmacy College, Rohru, were selected to further represent Himachal at advanced stages of the event. A special moment came for Arnab from Pharmacy College, who got a chance to meet Prime Minister Modi personally.
Reflecting on the experience, Arnab described it as a “dream come true.” “Until now, I had only seen and heard the Prime Minister, but meeting him in person was a priceless opportunity,” he said.
The event was not only a platform to showcase the talent and potential of Himachali students but also a testament to the state’s growing contribution to national-level youth initiatives.
