On the initiative of the state government, a bus carrying 39 Himachali students studying in Jammu and Kashmir started their homeward journey from Srinagar today. On the directions of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, a bus of the Jammu and Kashmir State Transport Department was arranged to bring the students back home.

An official spokesperson said that the arrival of the students at Jammu was delayed due to heavy traffic congestion near Banihal on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. The authorities concerned now expected the bus to reach Jammu later in the evening. “On the Chief Minister’s instructions, our officers are coordinating with the authorities in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. An HRTC bus has already been sent to Jammu, which will bring the students to Jassur in Kangra district, from where they will head to their homes.

Due to the delay in their arrival at Jammu, the students will now be brought to Jassur tomorrow morning. The Chief Minister has directed that all students be brought back to Himachal Pradesh free of cost,” said Nipun Jindal, Managing Director, Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC).
