3rd generation Army officer Lt Lovedeep brings laurels to his village

A third-generation officer in the Indian Army, Lieutenant Lovedeep Singh of Makroli village in the Indora sub division of Kangra district, has brought laurels to his native place and illuminated its name in the state. He was commissioned as a lieutenant

after graduating from the Indian Defence Services Officers Training Centre in Chennai on Sunday, following one year of intensive training.

Lovedeep will serve in the Army’s artillery. The news of his commissioning has brought pride to the Indora area of the lower Kangra region.

Lovedeep Singh is a graduate with a degree in Homeopathy and Surgery from a university in Solan. He cracked the Union Public Service Central Defence Services examination in 2024 and was selected for the Officer Training Centre (OTA), Chennai.

As a third-generation officer, his father, Darshan Singh, had served in the Indian Army and retired as a Subedar Major. His grandfather, late Brahma Singh, had also served in the Indian Army and retired as a Subedar Major.

Hailing from a family of Indian Army personnel, Lovedeep was keen to join the Army and follow the legacy of his family. He said he had been inspired by his father and grandfather and motivated by his mother, Snehlata, a housewife, to become an officer in the Army. His father, Subedar Major Darshan Singh (retd), has termed his son’s success in continuing the family’s legacy as a source of pride for the family.
